Sooo...want a Radioblog thing just like VN's? A Radioblog streams MP3s in your website and it's very easy to set up one, but the only thing that you will have to worry about is finding the right host for your Radioblog. Host requirements: - Your host must have at least 100MB of space or more...depending on how many songs that you want to upload. - A decent amount of bandwidth is needed...if you have a lot of visitors and they access the Radioblog quite often, then 1GB~5GB of spare bandwidth would help. - PHP, XML, RBS and SWF support. Misc requirements: - An MP3 converter for songs that are WMAs, AACs or MP3s that can't be converted because of their bit rate and sample rate. I recommend (ImTOO) Installation: 1) Download the Radioblog files from (here) 2) Unzip the folder with Winzip 3) Open the Radioblog folder and open the create.sound folder. This is where your MP3 songs can be converted into RBS. RBS files will only be anywhere around 1MB~2MB, depending on the original MP3 file size, so don't worry much about the time that it will take to upload them into your web server. 4) Before copying and pasting the MP3s that you want to be displayed in your Radioblog into the create.sound folder, check their properties and be sure that their Bit Rate (kbps) and Sample Rate (Hz) are 128 and 44 respectively - so the bit rate = 128kbps and the sample rate = 44Hz. 5) Once the songs' bit rate and sample rates are set, copy and paste them into the create.sound foler. 6) Click on convert64. The converter will automatically convert any songs that are in the create.sound folder into RBS files, then, the output RBS files will appear in the sounds folder. (Use convert64_xp if you are using Windows XP... convert32 and convert32_xp are for lower sound qualities) Right click on the song, select 'Get Info' to see the file's information and check its ID3 tag (it is located on the right column) Once you've done that, go back and right click on the song file again and this time, select 'Convert ID3 tags...' Now, in the drop-down menu, select a different ID3 tag from what you originally saw in the song's info box. It may take a few tries to get the right ID3 tag for the song, so keep trying... 7) When the converter is done with converting the songs, you will need to move the RBS files that are in the sounds folder, into the radio.blog's sounds folder. 8) Upload the radio.blog folder in to your webserver. If you want to add more songs, simply repeat the steps above. General Radioblog FAQ 1) Is it illegal to have a Radioblog, since it streams MP3's? - Technically, no, just as long as you are not distributing the MP3 files to the public. The songs are also in RBS format, which is only 1/3 as good as the original MP3 file - so seriously, who would want to steal them? 2) There are a lot of hosts that won't allow Radioblogs...I can't find any that will host mine! - I'm sure there are people who are willing to sponsor Radioblogs, if not, check out this thread from the Radioblog forums. |
